Syracuse, N.Y. – Ed Durant, Chief Financial Officer at Bankers Healthcare Group, a leading provider of financial solutions for healthcare professionals, received a 2018 Central New York 40 Under FORTY award. Presented by the Business Journal News Network and BizEventz, the award program recognizes 40 ambitious, hard-working, civic-minded individuals under the age of 40 who live in the region. Winners will be celebrated on, Nov. 7, 2018, in Syracuse, N.Y.
“Ed has not only experienced the company’s growth over his 15 years here, but continues to have a hand in driving it,” said BHG Founder/Chairman/CEO Al Crawford. “Ed’s drive for excellence and innovation is infectious. We’re lucky to have him on the team.”
One of BHG’s first employees, Durant joined the company in 2003 as assistant treasurer and eventually worked his way up to CFO, leading a team of more than 25 employees in the finance, accounting, and risk departments. During his tenure, his role evolved from business-level decision-making to financial reporting, monitoring controls and managing risk at a high level. Some of his accomplishments include developing BHG’s underwriting model. The system has been refined over the years and the company still uses it today to approve more than $100 million in loans each month.
In 2015, Durant was recognized in the Central New York Business Journal’s Financial & Business Executive Awards as a Private Company CFO Honoree. He is also the recipient of numerous BHG internal awards, most recently having earned the 2017 Chairman Award.
Durant is also active in the community as a member of Eastern Hills Bible Church and donor to Pass Da’ R.O.C.K., a local non-profit that hosts basketball tournaments for inner-city youth. He resides in Manlius, N.Y., with his wife and three children.
