Syracuse, NY – Pediatric patients kicked off the holiday season with Central New York’s pro hockey team the Syracuse Crunch, thanks to a sponsorship from Bankers Healthcare Group. This is the second year that BHG, the leading provider of financial solutions for healthcare professionals, has sponsored the annual Syracuse Crunch holiday party.
“The holidays can be really difficult for our young patients and their families if they have to spend them in the hospital,” said Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Administrator Jennifer Speicher. “We’re so grateful for partners like the Crunch and BHG to help make the holiday time a little more special for our kids.”
Sporting their jerseys, five Crunch players—Michael Bournival, Erik Condra, Connor Ingram, Reid McNeill and Matthew Spencer—visited the hospital to spend time with children and their families; sign autographs, make holiday crafts and hand out gift bags.
“This celebration is just as special to our team as it is to the kids. The players love getting off the ice to spend time with some of their youngest fans and bring a little extra cheer,” said Syracuse Crunch Senior VP of Business Operations Vance Lederman. “Thanks to BHG’s sponsorship, this holiday party is becoming a tradition we look forward to every year.
Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital offers primary and specialized medical care for pediatric patients. It is the only pediatric intensive care unit in a 17-county referral area, and the only dedicated pediatric Emergency Department between Rochester, N.Y., and the state of Vermont.
“Seeing the smiles and feeling the joy in the room reinforce the value of our partnership with the Crunch and Upstate Golisano,” said BHG Chief Marketing Officer Chris Panebianco. “The holidays are about giving, it feels very rewarding to give back to our communities through ways like this one.”
