Syracuse, N.Y. – Record-breaking growth is driving Bankers Healthcare Group, a leading provider of financial solutions for licensed healthcare practitioners and other highly-skilled professionals, to build a new financial headquarters in Syracuse, N.Y. BHG broke ground with government officials at the new site today and announced the potential to create more than 300 jobs in Syracuse over the next five years.
“By partnering with the city, county, and state, we not only have the ability to expand our company footprint, but create hundreds of new jobs here. As a Central New York native, I appreciate the work ethic of the people who live here,” said Albert Crawford, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Bankers Healthcare Group. “Our company’s financial headquarters have been in the region for nearly two decades, and it’s an honor to play a key role in attracting top talent, contributing to the local economy, and supporting the redevelopment of the Inner Harbor.”
BHG will construct a 100,000 square-foot, five-story facility on just over six acres at 300-324 Spencer Street in Syracuse’s historic Franklin Square district. Construction is expected to begin by mid-January, following demolition of the existing property and site cleanup, and is expected to be completed by fall 2021.
BHG moved to its current financial headquarters at 201 Solar St. in 2013, and has since expanded its footprint across three additional office spaces in Franklin Square and Armory Square. The new headquarters will bring all local BHG staff together under one roof. Since January, the company has hired more than 100 new employees, as market demand for BHG’s suite of financial solutions continues to increase.
The new building will feature outdoor green space, a two-story atrium, commercial kitchen, onsite gym, and parking to accommodate more than 500 vehicles. BHG will also improve the acreage along the property’s perimeters on Spencer, Kirkpatrick and Solar streets to help support the redevelopment of the Inner Harbor.
“BHG’s growth has been great for Syracuse and for people and families throughout the region. We welcome BHG’s even greater commitment to the City,” said Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh. “The Syracuse Surge, our strategy for inclusive growth in the New Economy, is making the City a leading place for companies who depend on technology. We appreciate BHG’s investment and the support of Governor Cuomo and our partners in Onondaga County. Together, we are achieving our vision of being a growing city that embraces diversity and creates opportunity for all.”
“The continued expansion and investment by Bankers Healthcare Group into our community, particularly the Inner Harbor, is further proof that our local economy is continuing to grow and thrive,” said Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon. “Congratulations to Bankers Healthcare Group on this exciting announcement. We look forward to the hundreds of new jobs and continued transformation of our Inner Harbor neighborhood.”
“Investing in the city of Syracuse is not only the right thing for us to do, but the ability to work together collaboratively with the city, county and state has only solidified our desire to continue investing in Syracuse,” said Crawford.
BHG named King + King Architects architect of record and retained Parsons McKenna as the general contractor.
