Syracuse, N.Y. – Students at the Syracuse City School District’s Dr. Weeks Elementary School have fun, new ways to stay active this summer, thanks to Bankers Healthcare Group, the leading provider of financial solutions for healthcare professionals.
BHG employees—as part of the BHG Cares Crew—stopped by Dr. Weeks during the last week of school to inspire kids to stay healthy and active by giving each of them a new outdoor game or toy to take home for the summer.
“Caring is at the heart of who we are and what we do—for our people, our planet, and our community. We created BHG Cares to put a name to our passion for giving back,” said BHG Chief Marketing Officer Chris Panebianco. “We work every day with healthcare professionals and believe fiercely in healthy body, healthy mind, which is why we want to help Dr. Weeks students stay active this summer.”
BHG employees volunteered time to distribute everything from hula-hoops and badminton to footballs and kites to bubbles and jump ropes for every student at the school—enough to require a U-Haul truck to deliver the 800 toys and games.
“We appreciate all that BHG and its people have done for us this year. Their caring has brought so many smiles to our school and we hope to continue this great partnership next year,” said Jennifer Homeyer, Administrative Intern at Dr. Weeks.
This fall, BHG donated Thanksgiving turkeys to more than 70 student families. During the holiday season, BHG donated toys for every one of the 800 students at the school.“The relationships we’ve built with the staff and students at Dr. Weeks are special, and we’re grateful to help them kick off summer with a healthy start,” said Panebianco.
The Syracuse City School District serves more than 21,000 students. BHG’s financial headquarters is located in downtown Syracuse, where 170 employees work.
