Chief Regulatory Relations Officer
Mark Schmidt is BHG’s Chief Regulatory Relations Officer, expertly assisting BHG’s key strategic partners with regulatory and compliance matters, while enhancing BHG’s risk management and reporting.
Prior to BHG, Mark was a Managing Director at Promontory Financial Group for six years. Before that, he led a successful 33-year career in bank supervision with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), where his most recent roles were Head of Bank Supervision Policy in Washington, D.C., and Regional Director of the Atlanta region. During that time, he also served as a consultant for the International Monetary Fund and served on the Basel Committee’s Standards Implementation Group. Additionally, Mark participated in the 1996 Legis Fellowship Program, working for the Banking and Financial Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mark earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Missouri and a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University.
